Nomenclature There is no description. Here Augener (1922: 49) gives a record of Dasychone bairdi McIntosh, 1885 for the West Indies, but in text flow he creates a new species name for his record and description of D. bairdi from West Africa in Augener (1918: 583). He writes (in approx translation) "This true West Indian D. Bairdi proves that my (1918) so named West African deceptively similar species must get a new name. I call them D. pseudoviolacea n. Sp. The difference from D. Bairdi lies in the shape of the gills attachments." [details]
