The species is described as Gammarus Olvianus n. sp. on pp. 399-400 and in Tab. I, figs 6 and 13 and in Tab. II, figs 46 - 64. However, this species is also mentioned on other pages: p.102(table) - as Gammarus Olwianus (sic); p.134 - as Gammarus Olvianus Sov-ky (sic) and p.336 - as Gammarus Olwianus (sic) n. sp. In the description of G. olvianus (p. 399), only the genus Gammarus is mentioned. However, on pages 393-394 Sovinsky describes a new sub-genus - Pontogammarus. Since the description of the subgenus comes prior to the species description, we have used Gammarus (Pontogammarus) olvianus as the original name.
