Neotype Designated incorrectly as BMNH 1867.7.26.48, dry specimen from the type locality Sebenico, in the presumed absence of any further type material. Uriz' (2002: 136) statement that the holotype is missing is in so far incorrect that there are three specimens extant in the Graz Museum and - apparently one in the Natural History Museum - that represent Schmidt's original material. Uriz' neotype designation cannot be explained as a lectotype designation, as it should have been expressly stated (and the specimens should have been examined before such a designation was made). All Schmidt's Sebenico specimens of Caminus vulcani are for the time being considered syntypes. Curiously, Desqueyoux-Faúndez & Stone, 1992 do not mention the existence of the BMNH material.  [details]
