Homonymy Coan & Scott (1997) stated that this taxon "has been twice renamed on the grounds that it is preoccupied by Kellia ferruginosa Morris. However, there is no such taxon, Morris (1843) merely transferred Mya ferruginosa Montagu, 1808, to Kellia. Neither Locard (1886) nor Winckworth (1932), who independently proposed replacement names, placed Montagu’s species, now regarded as a Montacuta, and Forbes’ species, generally previously placed in either Thyasira or Axinus, within the same genus. Thus, the name was never validly replaced (ICZN Code Art. 56c)." [details]
