Editor's comment Some of the sabellids synonymised in the past with Hypsicomus phaeotaenia (Schmarda, 1861) were reinstated as valid species of Notaulax by Perkins (1984). These were H. pigmentatus, H. marenzelleri, Sabella pyrrhogaster, Sabella alticollis, S. fuscotaeniata. Remaining synonyms may belong elsewhere or are valid species. However, these are yet to be edited, and possibly the review is yet to be done. [details]
