From editor or global species database
Neotype It is uncertain whether this is the same species as Spongia semitubulosa sensu Lieberkühn, 1959 and Reniera semitubulosa Schmidt, 1862. Lamarck's type is lost, so we will not be able to verify that it conforms to Reniera semitubulosa sensu Schmidt, 1862, the first author who left verifiable specimens. To fix the name Erpenbeck & Van Soest, 2002 selected one of Schmidt's specimens, LMJG 15991 as type. These authors were uncertain of the conspecificity with Lamarck's lost material and thus proposed the Schmidt material as lecto- and paralectotypes. It is here proposed to assign the lectotype LMJG 15591 as neotype for Spongia semitubulosa. [details]
