Description Corals may have a pronounced central arch. All septa and costae are granular in appearance and fairly thick. The septal teeth are no larger than granules. Small slits between the costae are visible underneath. This is a common species in sheltered areas, on soft substrates, coral rubble and hard substrates, from near the surface to 20 m deep. (Sheppard, 1998 <308>)
Corals are circular, up to 135 mm in diameter, flat or with a central arch. Septa are thick, wavy and with finely granulated margins. Costae are fine. The undersurface has pits between the costae. Colour: usually brown. Abundance: usually uncommon. (Veron, 1986 <57>) [details]
