Spelling See also separate record using S. madagascarensis as the spelling. Fauvel in 1919 published the name twice but also used two spellings. It is uncertain which was first but it seems most likely that the spelling of "madagascariensis" in Bulletin du Museum, early in the volume, preceded the spelling of "madagascarensis" in the issue of Archives de Zoologie Expérimentale et Générale published in September 1919. The spelling "madagascariensis" is the usual spelling to associate a species with Madagascar, and Hartman (1957) and Day (1951) both used it. Hartman used it in the 1959 catalogue. Blake (2017) uses the "madagascarensis" spelling but does not mention the other spelling. [details]
