Type locality One specimen. River Casamance estuary (Senegal, Atlantic Ocean), 12.5593, -16.71, 6 km upstream from its mouth. Fauvel does not give locations for each taxon but states in the introduction "Ces Annelides ont ete recueillies en un seul jour dans l'estuaire de la rivire Casamance (Senegal), 6 kilometres de son embouchure." [details]
Type material The holotype is deposited at the MNHN with the number POLY TYPE 179 ot 723, according to Solis-Weiss et al. (2004). Fauvel (1902) reported a single specimen in his original description, so it must be deposited in one of the two existing vials.  [details]

Distribution There are a large number of records reported for Australia by OBIS via museum records. However, Armandia intermedia is an Atlantic, N hemisphere species from the coast of Senegal. It seems unlikely to be the species in Australia. Parapar & Moreira (2015: 595) state that " the reports of A. intermedia in Australia (Fig. 13D) and those of A. maculata in New Zealand may either refer to A. paraintermedia n. sp. or to a new species." [details]

Habitat Type is a single specimen but the collection of worms examined by Fauvel was from intertidal fine sand, slightly muddy, around old rotten wood stumps and wrecks.  [details]
