Description Description: arm length to 30 mm, disc diameter to 6 mm. Small species with disc plates of mixed sizes, but radial shields obvious. Plate with comb-like arrangement of spines at base of arm and between arm base and radial shields. Colour uniformly greyish. Habitat: eulittoral and deeper in coral rubble and other coarse substrates.
Also distributed in Gilbert Islands, Saipan (Clark, 1954); SE Arabia, Persian Gulf, W India, Pakistan, Ceylon, Bay of Bengal, East Indies, north Australia, Philippine, China, south Japan, South Pacific Is. and Hawaiian Is. (Clark & Rowe, 1971); Australia (Rowe & Gates, 1995).
General distribution: WIO, Red Sea to W Pacific (Richmond, 1998); tropical, Indo-west Pacific Ocean, depth range 9-500 m. (Rowe & Gates, 1995).
