Type locality Probably Uraga Channel, near Yokosuka (Miura Peninsula), Honshu Island, Japan, Pacific Ocean (gazetteer estimate 35.18°, 139.76°), 135 m. The type locality was originally referred by Hessle (1917: 210) as ''Japan, Sagami Yokuskastrasse 135 m.'' Probably ''Yokuskastrasse'' refers to the strait or channel leading to the city of Yokosuka (Miura Peninsula), in the ancient Sagami Province (now part of the Kanagawa Prefecture). Yokosuka is located near the southern end of Tokyo Bay and near Uraga Channel, the waterway connecting Tokyo Bay with Sagami Gulf. As Tokyo Bay is very shallow, barely exceeding 50 m depth, and Uraga Channel is a much deeper and steep region leading to the mouth of Tokyo Canyon, the type material, from 135 m depth, was probably collected at the upper region of Uraga Channel.  [details]

Holotype Deposited at the Zoologiska Institutionen, Uppsala, Sweden (ZMUU 175). The holotype was described by Londoño-Mesa (2003: 749) as being in bad condition and lacking the anterior and posterior ends, being impossible to recognize many diagnostic structures. [details]
