Distribution east Africa to east coast Indian Ocean [details]Spelling According to Burreson (2020) the species was named Branchellion plicusbranchus by Raj (1953 &1954) and later changed to 'plicobranchus' in 1959 for reasons unknown. Burreson uses the changed spelling, but species names spellings cannot be later arbitrarily changed by authors. As the original and the updates by Raj have not been seen it is uncertain what happened and whether the change was Code compliant. [details]
