Identification Scalaria pulcherrima Monterosato 1872 and its replaceent name Scalaria formosa Monterosato, 1875 are nomina nuda and anyway both preoccupied (the former by Sowerby, 1844, the second by Briard & Cornet, 1873). They were dentified to Scalaria nana Jeffreys, 1884 by Dautzenberg (1927) based on a specimen received from Monterosato, and to their Epitonium pseudonanum by Bouchet & Warén (1986), probably on the grounds that Epitonium nanum does not exist in the Mediterranean. Those names are not mentioned in the revision of the Monterosato collection by Appolloni et al. (2018) [details]
