Publication date Fauvel described Ceratonereis pachychaeta as new in both his 1918 and 1919 papers. According to Glasby et al. "Fauvel’s 1918 and 1919 descriptions are almost identical, but the latter includes a more extensive discussion of characters and congeners and a couple of additional views of the chaetae. The superior woodcut lithographic illustrations of the head and parapodia of syntype MNHN POLY 184 were published in 1919." [details]Type designation Musée National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris, POLY TYPE 182, 184, 690. Type 184 designated the lectotype by Glasby et al. (2011). Former syntype 183 does not belong to this species. [details]
