Type locality Although Hartman catalogue gives a location of Brazil, there is no mention of a collection place in Grube's text (unlike for other taxa). The material is credited by Grube to Fr. Müller (by means of a mention after the species name), and as Müller collected in Brazil it is reasonable assumption the specimen was from Brazil. Location uncertain. The species does not seem to be listed in checklists of Brazilian Polychaeta [details]

Homonymy Replaced junior primary homonym to Cirratulus flavescens Johnston, 1825. The homonymy was detected and tagged by Hartman in her catalogue. Cirratulus flavescens Grube 1872 is replaced (2014) by junior synonym Timarete oculata (Treadwell, 1932), a synonymy detected by Magalhães, Seixas, Paiva & Elias, 2014. They state only that "This holotype was examined and it belongs to Timarete oculata comb. nov.", which does not make the situation clear for non taxonomists. In fact in normal circumstances Timarete oculata would be the junior synonym, but it is promoted to validity as the next available replacement name. [details]
