Taxonomy Quatrefages based the name 'montagui' on the Terebella cirrhata misspelling of Montagu, 1819, which Quatrefages corrects as "cirrata" as in Terebella cirrata Muller [=> Amphitrite cirrata] and replaces Montagu's name for homonymy, but this was unnecessary as Montagu's usage was of Müller's 1776 species. Thus the name is an objective synonym of Amphitrite cirrata, and is not a new taxon. [details]
