The Author describes a new species of Hesionidae (Ophiodromus longocirratus) found in the benthic mesopsammon of the Gulf of Catania. The most remarkable pecularities of this species are tentacular and long podial cirri clearly jointed, 8 papillae at the anterior margin of the pharynx, parapodia uniramous bearing 1 simple seta, and the median antenna is not placed at the anterior margin of the prostomium.
