Remark This species appears to be in the genus Americorchestia. Based on the male, characters used to place it here are: antenna 2 peduncular article 3 without ventral plate; gnathopod 1 posterior margin of carpus and propodus each with lobe covered in palmate setae; gnathopod 2 subchelate, dactylus not distally attenuated; pleonites 1-3 without dorsal spines or sculpturing; pleopods all well developed; pereopod 4 dactylus thickened proximally with notch midway along posterior margin; uropod 1 outer ramus with robust setae; uropod 3 ramus subequal to or longer than peduncle; telson apically incised or entire, with 3-6 setae per lobe.
In Americorchestia has taxa on both sides of the Atlantic then it implies that the genus was in existence when Atlantic formed. Based on Intkey anlysis Americorchestia appears to be and sister taxon Sardorchestia and to Africorchestia. It may be that Americorchestia and Sardorchestia should be synonymised. [details]
