Taxonomy Topsent (1892) assigned an Azores specimen to Schmidt's Rimella clava and synonymized Rimella with Racodiscula. However, Pisera & Lévi, 2002, maintained Rimella clava and assigned Topsent's specimen to an unnamed Rimella, which became Exsuperantia sp. (since Rimella was a preoccupied genus). This species was later described as a new species: Exsuperantia archipelagus Carvalho & Pisera, 2019. Meanwhile, Rimella clava Schmidt, 1879 became Exsuperantia clava. [details]
