Taxonomy Hasegawa (1998) revised the taxonomy of small cerithiform gastropods previously assigned to Eufenella and Clathrofenella and demonstrated that there are only two valid species of Clathrofenella for Japan, which he placed in Cerithidium on the grounds of priority: C. fuscum (A.
