Taxonomy This species is based on a picture of a large anisochela (145 µm) in Schmidt (1864: pl. III fig. 11) stated to be from 'Indisches Meeres'. The lack of details has given rise to several erroneous records of this species. Many records probably refer to Mycale armata Thiele (1903), and this was considered a junior synonym. In view of the lack of reliable descriptions such a synonymization appears unjustified. [details]
