Etymology The name of the genus Pulliella is composed by the toponym 'Pulli', from Pulli Island in the Gulf of Mannar, where the genotype was originally collected, followed by the Latin suffix -ella (masculine : -ellus), which is added to a noun to form a diminuitive of that noun, maybe making a reference to the size of the type material, described as being 15-20 mm long and 1.5-2.5 mm wide. [details]
