Type locality Coralligenous sand bank in front of the Grand Récif of Tuléar [= Toliara], Madagascar, Mozambique Channel, Indian Ocean (gazetteer estimate -23.39°, 43.62°), 15-20 m. [details]
Type material Species described with base on seven specimens, two of which stated to be slightly damaged. Whereabouts of holotype not known, one paratype deposited in the Musée National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris (MNHN POLY TYPE 595; see Solís-Weiss et al., 2004: S10). [details]
Depth range 15-20 m.
Distribution Indian Ocean: Grand Récif of Tuléar [= Toliara], Madagascar, Mozambique Channel. Known only from the type locality.
