Status All Exogone (Parexogone) were raised from subgenus to genus by Böggemann and Westheide (2004), because (p.433) of differences from Exogone in heterogomph falcigers and supra-acicular simple chaetae plus "a different reproductive mode" (mode unstated). Because this change was relatively obscurely presented, without a list of the new combinations, some later authors appeared unaware of it. However, Aguado & San Martin (2008: 52) also used Parexogone at full genus rank. Exogone (Parexogone) is retained here as a possible alternate representation.
