Publication date The publication date is incorrectly stated to be 1766 in the influential monograph of Stephen & Edmonds (1972: 459), but Pallas did not publish the relevant part (10) of Spicilegia Zoologica until 1774. Stephen & Edmonds appear to have used the date of part 1 of Pallas. They get the page and plate figure cited correctly, but the date is wrong. [details]

Spelling This WoRMS record was formerly as "Lumbricus thalassemum" but there is no such spelling in Pallas (1774: 8), who used the spelling "Lumbricus thalassema". It appears that the incorrect 'thalassemum" spelling originated in Stephens & Edmonds (1972:459 [details]
