Taxonomy The species was considered as an Autolytinae incertae sedis by Nygren (2004: 182-183), due to the poor condition of the holotype. According to the same author "Autolytus bicolor may belong within Procerini. However, many of the characters are unknown which make a 'generic' allocation difficult. The only other Procerini with nuchal epaulettes reaching end of chaetiger 3 is Paraproceraea tamana, but P. tamana is orange, and lacks the black colour markings of A. bicolor" (Nygren, 2004: 183).  [details]
