Type locality Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), Indian Ocean. No more precise location is reported, although more might be known elsewhere about the travels and places visited of the collector, E.W.H. Holdsworth [details]Type specimen Böggemann (2002: 69) reports that the holotype is BMNH 1874.10.2.9 from the Holdsworth collection. Grube reported (entirely in Latin) on the Holdsworth Ceylon collection in Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London, so this provenance is feasible, although the specimen label is for a "Glycera rutilans", a nomen nudum name mentioned in passing by McIntosh (1885: 345), which Böggemann believes would be an unused manuscript name. McIntosh reported the specimen was then in poor condition. [details]
