Note  In Pettibone's (1989) revision of Acoetidae...
Type material  In Pettibone's (1989) revision of Acoetidae she says there were six syntypes in the Berlin Museum. However, Grube (1877: 519) in an isolated one-sentence paragraph seems to say there was only one specimen: "Ein unvollstandigen Exemplar mit 80 segmenten mass 65 mm" [An incomplete example with 80 segments measuring 65 mm]. Perhaps that was the largest of the specimens. It may have become Pettibone's "paralectotype (ZMB 848b) with 78+ segments 65+ mm long" but her designated lectotype was presumably a different specimen to Grube's mentioned specimen. [details]
