Status Carrera-Parra (2006) explains: "Hartman (1949) considered this species as a synonym of Lumbrineris latreilli [both then considered under the Lumbriconereis spelling]; but both species have many differences; the main ones include the number of teeth in MIII and aciculae colour. Thus, L. futilis has MIII unidentate and black aciculae, while L. latreilli has MIII bidentate and yellow aciculae." [details]
