Taxonomy Whitelegge (1901) assigned this Australian material to the Atlantic Chalina finitima Schmidt, 1870, which is unlikely to be the same species. Technically speaking, Whitelegge's specimens need a new name, but Schmidt's species is a Chalinula and Whitelegge's is assigned to Haliclona, so homonymy is avoided. [details]
