Biology: Type of larval development: direct (non planktotrophic) denoted by paucispiral protoconch. [details]
Diagnosis: Shell 1.5-2.4 mm high, with protoconch of 1.25 whorls and teleoconch of three to four whorls. Protoconch nearly smooth. Teleoconch with early whorls keeled, and with spiral rows of extremely minute (ca. 0.5 µm) pores, visible only at high magnification under the scanning electron microscope. Outer lip with a thin edge and thickened externally at a distance of the edge by a definite, well demarcated rim, smooth and not thickened inside. Shell colour either whitish or with a very pale colour pattern of bands tending to become more intense and form blotches where abutting on the outer lip.
This species differs from the Lusitanian G. vinyillina Gofas, 2007 in having keeled spire whorls and an orthocline rather than opisthocline aperture with a more definite outer rim. [details]
Distribution: Atlantis seamount, endemic, very common in 280-420 m [details]
Type locality: Atlantis seamount (34°04.8'N, 30°14.9'W, 330 m). [details]
