Taxonomy "I have examined the type of Mytilimeria compressa Locard in MNHN. It consists of a single left valve showing lucinoid but not verticordioid affinities: the shell is lenticular, without an external granulation; the interior is not nacreous, the pallial line without a sinus, and the anterior adductor muscle scar elongate, with a ventral expansion parallel to the pallial line." (p. 169 in Poutiers & Bernard, 1995) [details]
