Diagnosis Porphyrocrinus with 5 (sometimes 6) unbranched rays; up to ~20 short disk-like proximal columnals (none in specimens with regenerating crowns); middle columnals taller than wide; distal columnals as wide as tall or shorter, with multiple pairs joined by secondarily ankylosed rigid articulations. First pinnule on brachial 8 to 12. Proximal brachials chiefly in pairs joined by synostosis (1+2 sometimes missing; 5+6+7 sometimes present). [details]
