Etymology The name Armatomelita is based on the Latin word “armatus” (armed) combined with the older genus name Melita. This is because this new genus has a dorsal armament on pereon, pleon and urosome segments, in addition to its close relation to the Melita group. The name is feminine in gender. [details]
