Validity Hyatt’s name is not an available name (as it has a fourth name, ICZN art. 45.5). Hyatt’s name is a misspelling of Spongia meandriformis Duchassaing & Michelotti, 1864 (currently Spongia (Spongia) barbara Duchassaing & Michelotti, 1864). Van Soest (2024) proposed to assign this material from Florida and the Bahamas to Spongia (Spongia) barbara (Duchassaing & Michelotti, 1864) in accordance with Van Soest (1978: 16). [details]
