Authority Grube (1850) had earlier recognised the family as "Opheliacea", but Malmgren (1867:73) first used the required 'idae' formulation as Opheliidae. [details]

Classification See Scalibregmatidae for Travisia species (and subfamily Travisiinae), and comments on their transfer out of a former position in Opheliidae to in or sister to Scalibregmatidae. [details]
