Homonymy The genus "Pseudothelepus' Hutchings, 1997 is a junior homonym of the genus Pseudothelepus Augener, 1918 and thus an unavailable name in any circumstance. It is unclear if anyone has commented on the matter in published literature. However, Nogueira, Fitzhugh & Hutchings (2013) include the two respective type species together in a table as if they were in the same genus. It is of course possible by coincidence that the two homonyms are also synonyms. Nogueira, Hutchings and Fukuda (2010) earlier had mentioned the unavailable binominal "Pseudothelepus binara" six times, while also mentioning Pseudothelepus oligocirrus, without commenting that the respective genus names were not representing the same entities. [details]
