Gives a Key to the genera and descriptions of species in the family Pomacentridae, found in the Western Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. There are 68 species divided into 12 genera given; 8 new species are described, while at least 20 are apparently endemic. Some of the species present problems in classification; malidentifications are common and the synonymy of some species is involved
