Taxonomy Monard (1928: 438) proposed Nannopodella for Nannopodella denisi (incorrect original spelling Denisi) but also remarked “... l’espèce Enhydrosoma minutum de Scott doit certainement rentrer dans notre nouveau genre”; neither of these species was fixed as the type. Klie (1929: 374) and Lang (1936b: 477) remarked that the latter species should be transferred to Rhizothrix Sars, 1909a as R. minuta (T. Scott, 1903a). Since elimination of all but one of the originally included nominal species from a nominal genus does not in itself constitute type fixation (ICZN Art.
69.4), Nannopodella denisi Monard, 1928 is here fixed as the type species. [details]
