Taxonomic remark
"The single valid genus, Melinnacheres, was recognised as the senior synonym of Saccopsis Levinsen, 1878 by Bresciani & Lützen (1975) who also proposed to alter the family name to Melinnacheridae. This is contrary to Article 40(a) of the International Code for Zoological Nomenclature. The family name Saccopsidae proposed in 1964 should be retained."
The Article 40.1 in the 4th edition, says: When the name of a type genus of a nominal family-group taxon is considered to be a junior synonym of another nominal genus, the family-group name is not to be replaced on that account alone.
So the family name remains Saccopsidae even though the genus Saccopsis is a junior synonym of Melinnacheres. [details]
