Status Laetmonecticus nigrum is likely to be a valid species, although based on just one specimen. It seems that nothing is known of this species beyond the initial specimen. Rouse et al (2022:256) considered that Laetmonectidae was likely to be a junior synonym of Acrocirridae and that Laetmonecticus nigrum may belong to acrocirrid genera Chauvinelia or Helmetophorus [details]
