This is a reference work regarding Discodorididae but the author does not apply consistently binomial nomenclature, and treats some stem-group species using a phylogenetic nomenclature contrary to ICZN rules. This is made explicit on page 19: "Throughout this monograph, not all names are strictly Linnean, i.e. based on a combination of a generic and a specific name". This practice, especially usage of "Monterreina" in a sense which is distinct from the original concept as a Linnean genus, is unpractical in the context of checklists using binomial nomenclature. Therefore, Dayrat's combinations are here registered as "alternate representation" to the most recent formal Linnean names which have been given to the same species.
