Spelling 'Nephthys' is the usual spelling transliterated from Greek for the Egyptian goddess, and is used correctly in Savigny's "Description de l'Égypte ..." (finally published 1822). Possibly it was misspelled in the Savigny MS, or possibly it is a transcription error from the MS by both Cuvier and Lamarck, but for unknown reasons, Cuvier (1817) first published the taxon name of the worm as 'Nephtys' and Lamarck (1818) used the same spelling. [details]
