Diagnosis Apical system monobasal, with 3 gonopores (genital pore 3 absent). Petals unequal, the posterior pair and anterior petals sub-parallel, open distally and gradually ending, anterior pair closing distally. Phyllodes with one inner and one outer pore-pair series. [details]
Etymology After the Greek “pygo-” (rear end; the posterior part of the body) and “lampas” (lamp, the Ancient Greek torch). The genus name refers to the tapered rear of the test; “lampas” standing for echinoid, as it usually does in cassiduloid genus names. [details]
