Status Brady (1884) in his Challenger report referred the figures 4-5 plate 71 to Cristellaria aculeata d'Orbigny. Those figures...
Status Brady (1884) in his Challenger report referred the figures 4-5 plate 71 to Cristellaria aculeata d'Orbigny. Those figures are now referred to Vaginulinopsis subaculeata (Cushman 1923).
The figure of C. aculeata after Soldani in Parker et al. (1871) shows "no septation and no cristellarian aperture". Parker et al. were not even convinced that Soldani's figured a foraminifera. C. aculeata a fossil species is probably different from Brady's species. The varieties (Goës, Silvestri) refer to Brady's figures not d'Orbigny's species. [details]
