Editor's comment Salazar-Vallejo (2012: 458) discusses the validity of Caullery's 1944 original introduction of the name Trophoniella and came to the view that it was not validly established until a catalogue listing in Hartman (1959: 423). Therefore he changed the authorship to Hartman in his review of the genus. This argumentation is rejected, and the changed authorship is not adopted here. [details]
Etymology Not stated, but Trophoniella is feminine as -ella is a feminine suffix [details]
