Not stated. The name Malacoceros is composed by the words malaco, from the Ancient Greek malakós (= 'soft'), and ceros, from the Greek kéras (= 'horn'), and seems to refer to the presence of two soft lateral projections or 'horns' on the anterior margin of the prostomium.
