In the Kaltenbach creek NE Miesbach (Subalpine Molasse) tubes of annelides (Sedentarida) were discovered in the middle part of the Ottnangian stage. They consist nearly exclusively of spicules of silicious sponges. These tubes are arranged to the suborder Drilomorpha and provisionally determined as genus Owenia. The relations between the new species Owenia voigti and the suborder Terebellomorpha are discussed. The importance of the Kaltenbach creek as a famous locality for fossils is duly considered.
