Polychaetes (546 specimens) belonging to 5 genera and 8 spp. of the family Nereidae (Polychaeta, Errantia) were collected from the littoral of the Gulf of Cariaco (Venezuela) from Dec., 1978-July 1979. Perinereis anderssoni was the most abundant species; Nereis falsa, Platynereis dumerilii, N. riisei, N. zonata, Pseudonereis gallapagensis, Rullierinereis bahamensis and N. (Neanthes) succinea were also present. R. bahamensis and N. zonata are new records for the Venezuela.
