[details] Distribution Mediterranean Sea: France; Italy (Gulf of Naples; Sicily); northern Africa. Atlantic Ocean: Canary Islands. [details] Habitat Mainly on hard substrates (1-40 m), usually with encrusting organisms (e.g. bryozoans, sponges, ascidians, vermetid tubes), crevices and algae. When collected from soft sediments, sea-grasses or algae are also present. Type of Phyllodoce nana was found among the tubes of Sabellaria alveolata. [details] Reproduction Mature specimens found in Sicily in May. Diameter of eggs about 150 µm, possibly indicating a lecitotrophic larval development. In the material studied by Pleijel & Mackie (1993) mature specimens occurred from a size of about 3 mm, corresponding to about 30 segments.
